Lane E. Turner, M.D., of Ames, ended his life on Friday, Jan. 20, in rural Boone County. Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames.
Dr. Turner was born Nov. 18, 1967 in Great Bend, Kan., the son of Dr. Terry and Judy (Krug) Turner. He married Amy Taylor June 20, 1992, in Hutchinson, Kan. He graduated from Kansas State University, the Kansas University School of Medicine and completed his ENT residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He joined McFarland Clinic in 1999 and recently was elected to the board of directors. He attended Collegiate United Methodist Church and was an alumnus of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He adored his family. Woodworking and nature were important to him. He was dedicated to the care of his patients and regarded his colleagues as a second family.
He is survived by his wife, Amy, and four children: Jill, Brian and infant twins, Kelly and Eric, all of the home; his parents, Dr. Terry and Judy Turner of Great Bend, Kan.; one brother, Tracy Turner of Dallas; one sister and her husband, Libby and Eric Hartter of Dallas; his father and mother-in-law, Elwyn (ET) and Lucille Taylor of Ames, formerly of Hutchinson, Kan.; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Jeff and Susie Taylor of England and Mike and Holly Taylor of Wichita, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.
Education was very important to him. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for the education of his children. The Turner Memorial Education Fund, First American Bank, 520 Grand Ave., Ames, IA 50010.
