Kent J. "Butch" Lage, 64, of Roland died Thursday, Jan. 19, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City and Roland is in charge of arrangements.

Kent "Butch" Lage, 64, of Roland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames from complications of lung cancer. His family surrounded him. His faith and courage while facing this illness were a source of inspiration.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will follow at the Roland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, with family present after 5 p.m. at the Bergen Church Fellowship Hall.
Butch was born July 1, 1941, in Hubbard to Harold and Frances (Teig) Lage. He graduated from Roland High School in 1959. Following high school, he attended mechanic trade school in Kansas City. He entered the Air Force on Dec. 7, 1960, and served four years. He married Betty Weltha on Sept. 8, 1962.
The majority of Butch's working years was spent at Munsen Chevrolet and Buick in Story City. For the past ten years he was employed by Erickson Machine Tools in Story City.
He is survived by his wife Betty Lage of Roland; daughter Deb Hoskins and her husband Kevin of Jefferson; daughter Kris Lage of Perth, Australia; two grandchildren, Michael and Molly Hoskins; sister Jane Twedt of Roland, and sister-in-law Ilene Lage of Roland. He was a beloved brother, brother-in-law and uncle to his extended family, who will miss him terribly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim Lage; and brother-in-law Roger Twedt.
A memorial has been established in his name.
