Violet Johnson, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Taylor Hospice House. A private family service will be held on Thursday at Ames Municipal Cemetery, with a memorial service at a later date.

Violet taught in a one room school house in Story City and later worked for the USDA as a secretary for many years. Violet loved traveling, painting and playing the organ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas.

Violet is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Gary)
McCoy of Des Moines; son, Dennis (Kathy) Johnson of Clive; grandchildren, Ted McCoy of Columbus, OH, Marcia (Dean) Way of Des Moines, and Thomas (Kris) McCoy of Sioux Falls, SD; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Samantha Way.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mill Pond Community (mini-van fund).
