THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, January 13, 2006.

Shirley Ann (Noonan) Bathie, 68, of Ames, died Thursday, Jan. 12, at Israel Family Hospice House, following a courageous, seven-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, with the Rev. Randy Gehring officiating. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Shirley was born Feb. 6, 1937, in Bluffton, Ind., to Ivan and Marjorie (Johnson) Noonan. She graduated from Bluffton High School in 1955. She was a stewardess with Lake Central Airline until she married William Bathie June 29, 1958, in Bluffton.

She worked part-time for several years at Iowa State University. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and the ISU Faculty Womens Club Bowling League. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her three grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, flowers, gardening and sewing.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Bathie of Ames; one daughter, Belinda Bathie of Eagan, Minn.; one son, Mark (Sara) Bathie of Ames; grandchildren, Logan, Paige and Erin of Ames; and two sisters, Norma Ormsby of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Carolyn (Don) Vance of Sun City, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House or Bliss Cancer Center.
