TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 22, 2005.

Richard Eugene Alleman, 84, of rural Slater passed away Wednesday, December 14 at the Madrid Nursing Home where he was recuperating from a broken hip. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 17 at Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman.

Rich was born September 19, 1921 to Ben & Ida (Lehman) Alleman. He farmed near Alleman all of his life until his retirement. He was a seed salesman for Pioneer and Garst Seed Companies for over 30 years. He married Doris Ruth Fausch on October 17, 1942. She died March 28, 1989. He married Verda Alleman August 26, 1990.

Richard was a life-long member of Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman where he was baptized and confirmed, sang in the church choir since confirmation, served on the church board, and as Sunday School superintendent. He was also a 4-H leader and served on the Polk County Extension Council. He served as a Lincoln Township Trustee for 41 years.

He is survived by his second wife, Verda and his two sons, Ron (Marcia) of Ankeny, Jim, (Kathy) of Hewitt, TX, and daughter-in-law, Sue Alleman of Des Moines, two step-sons, Bruce Alleman of Sheldahl, Brian (Brenda) Alleman of Slater, two step-daughters, Sherry (Randy) Fix of Altoona, and Rhonda (Steve) Claussen of Cambridge; two sisters, Ethel Wells of Johnston and Evelyn (Addison) Allen of Clearwater, FL; a brother, Robert (Barney) and wife JoAnn of Ankeny; four grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, a son Victor, and two brothers, Lloyd and Wilbur.

Memorials may be given to Salem United Church of Christ.
