Obituary - Lars N. Severeid

ROLAND - Funeral services were held Sept. 14, for Lars N. Severeid who passed away in Des Moines Sept. 10. A prayer service was held at 1:30 p.m. at the Erickson funeral home in Roland and at Bergen Lutheran church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Allen E. Nelson officiating.

Music was furnished by Otto J. Hanson, both at the funeral home and at the church, accompanied by Mrs. Hanson at the organ.

Casket bearers were Elliott Thompson, Cyrus Thompson, Irven Eggland, Ernest B. Eggland, Reuben Hill and Arthur Hill.

Lars N. Severeid was born Oct. 12, 1892 at Etne, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in his homeland. He came to the United States as a young man. He was united in marriage to Gemelia Larson, who preceded him in death on July 14, 1921.

Mr. Severeid died Sept. 10 at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 28 days, at Broadlawns General hospital in Des Moines after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage the previous Monday.

Mr. Severeid was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers and a sister. He is survived by one son, Ronald Severeid of West Los Angeles, and one daughter, Myrtle (Mrs. Ben Arneson) of Roland, six grandchildren, one brother in Montana, and one sister in Norway.
