THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, December 20, 2005.

Leonard J. Springer, 95, formerly of Boone, died Saturday, Dec. 17, at Sunnyview Care Center in Ankeny. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m.Wednesday, Dec. 21, in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone with the Rev. Tim Braun officiating.

He married Ruth M. Kingsbury Aug. 19, 1933, at Bethany, Mo. He farmed northeast of Boone and later worked as a custodian at Iowa State University until he retired in1975.

He is survived by one daughter, Janice Mesenbrink of Des Moines; one grandson, Brian (Pam) Mesenbrink of Mitchellville; two granddaughters, Shari Mesenbrink and Joni Mesenbrink of Des Moines; and one great-grandson, Brandon Mesenbrink of Mitchellville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; two sisters; and one son-in-law.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 tonight and from 8 am.. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone when the casket will be taken to the cemetery for services. The family will be present from 3 to 6:30 tonight to greet friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Central Christian Church, Sunnyview Care Center or Hope Lutheran Church.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
