THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, December 7, 2005.

Frank Pepper, 78, of 110 S. Greene St., in Boone died Monday, Dec. 5, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. His body has been cremated, and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone. A presentation of the American flag will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.

Frank Pepper was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Harrison Township in Boone County, the son of Frank and Hazel (York) Pepper. He lived most of his life in Gilbert and Boone. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He married Mary Ann Givens April 15, 1949, in Boone. He was a plumber for Local Union 33, working throughout the state of Iowa. His hobbies include watching Cubs baseball, Cyclone and Hawkeye sporting events, hunting, fishing, softball, playing cards, shooting pool, watching his windmill and watching NASCAR and his favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Daniel, Maurice, James and William "Billy" Pepper; and two sisters, Mary McNertney and Catherine Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Boone; two sons, Frank "Jess" Pepper and wife, Penny, of Cambridge, and Scott Pepper of Boone; two daughters, Cathy Pepper and companion, Otto Gross, of Blue Springs, Mo., and Susan Loonan and husband, Joe, of Gilbert; six grandchildren, Jeremy Peterson, Shelly Peterson, Katie Pepper, Sammie Pepper, Joe Loonan Jr. and Michael Netcott; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Thomas Peterson, MaKayla Netcott and Ryan Netcott.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral chapel with the family will be present from 10 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa-Boone Office.
