NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 1, 2005.

Arleen R. Schaeffer, 79, formerly of Marshalltown, currently residing at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, died there Tuesday, November 22, 2005. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 26, 2005, at the Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Interment took place at the Allison Cemetery in Allison, Iowa. Arleen was born May 5, 1926, in Allison, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Katherine (Frerichs) Fleshner. She was raised and educated in Allison, where she graduated from the Allison High School. Arleen married Richard L. Schaeffer on May 28, 1947, in Sheffield, Iowa. Following their marriage they owned and operated Schaeffers Cash and Carry in Allison for several years. Their family moved to Nevada, Iowa, in 1958 where Arleen worked for Story County Farm Service. During 1970 Arleen and Richard settled in Marshalltown. Arleen was employed by Fisher Controls as a pricing agent until her retirement in 1990. During her free time Arleen enjoyed playing golf, bridge and traveling. Arlene was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown.

Arleen is survived by her daughter Diane H. Schaeffer of Cedar Falls, her two sons: Daniel L. Schaeffer and Dick Schaeffer Jr. both of Denver Colorado, her two granddaughters Michelle (Mannie) Olubode and Lori Schaeffer both of Denver, two great-grandchildren: Abbie and Paris, two nephews and two nieces.

Arleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard and her two sisters: Annette (Ken) Smith and Carrie (Mike) Dailey.
