Charles E. Evans, 70, of Ames, died Thursday, Nov. 10, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Charles E. Evans was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Franklin, Ill., to Chester Evans Sr. and Ruby (Tannahill) Evans of Williamsville, Ill. He married Gloria (Baxley) Evans June 8, 1957, in Springfield, Ill. He retired from the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames in 1990.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Evans of Ames; two daughters, Karen Evans of Ames and Marla Gonzales of Kansas City, Kan.; one son, Lance Evans of Ames; four granddaughters, Nicole, Rachel, Laura and Lauren; and three great-grandchildren.

After cremation, a private family memorial service will be at a later date in Williamsville, Ill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William R. Bliss Cancer Center in care of Mary Greeley Foundation.
