Earl L. Laughlin, of Kansas City, formerly of Green Valley, Arizona and Nevada, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Carmel Hills Living Center in Independence, Missouri. He was born to Joseph & Era Laughlin April 7, 1919 in Elmcreek, Nebraska. Earl earned his Bachelor's degree in Entomology and was then drafted into military service for the Army during WWII. He was honorably discharged October 24, 1945 carrying home a citation for Good Conduct and 3 battle stars. Once home, Earl earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS), and practiced in Nevada, Iowa for almost 30 years. Earl and Mildred retired to Green Valley, Arizona in 1982 and later to Kansas City, Missouri to be close to family.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Laughlin of Prairie City, Iowa. He is survived by their children and spouses: Bob & Pam Laughlin of Kansas City, Missouri; Jim & Barbara Laughlin of West Branch, Iowa; Fred & Jan Laughlin of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren and spouses: Tari & Dwayne Watson of Kansas City, Missouri; Joe & Lynn Laughlin of Liberty, Missouri; Matt & Laurie deSilva of Grand Ledge, Michigan; Jeremy Laughlin of Iowa City, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Robert Watson, United States Army, Seoul, Korea; Jeremiah & Katie Watson of Liberty, Missouri; Megan Laughlin and Benjamin Laughlin of Liberty, Missouri; Hannah deSilva and Bailey deSilva of Grand Ledge, Michigan; and great-great-grandchild, Taressa Watson of Liberty, Missouri.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions in Earl's honor be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or any charity of choice.
