Pauline I. Matters, 79, of Gilman, IL died November 2, 2005 at Gilman Nursing Pavilion. She was born October 13, 1926 in Nevada, the daughter of Willard and Ilo (Melohn) Ayers. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1945.

On August 15, 1948 she married Kenneth Matters in Nevada. They lived many years in Kankakee, IL., where Polly worked as a nurse at St. Marys Hospital.

She is survived by two sons, William and Marcia Matters of Bourbonnais, IL, Michael Matters and Barbara Lance of Crete, IL; grandchildren Jennifer Matters, Susanne Smith, Kim Haggard, Patrick Murphy; great-grandchildren Summer Smith, Patricia Haggard, Lacy Haggard, Clare Murphy; and by two brothers Dale Knutson of Ankeny and Gary Knutson of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986, her sister Lois Myers of Nevada in 1985 and her brother Dean Knutson of Ames in 1985.

Funeral services were held Monday at Adams Funeral Home in Ames and burial was in Story Memorial Garden Cemetery in Ames.
