THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 8, 2005.

Lorna Marsh Volmer, 57, died Thursday, Nov. 3, at her home. Per her wishes, no services will be held. Lorna will be cremated and the family will be holding a private gathering for immediate family members.

Lorna was born Feb. 12, 1948. She attended Iowa State University, where she earned a doctorate degree in school psychology and later provided years of service to Heartland AEA as a school psychologist. Lorna was an avid gardener and had an intense interest in preserving the environment. She was a member of the National Association of School Psychologists.

Lorna is survived by her husband, Neil; one son, Jason; one daughter-in-law, Stacy; one granddaughter, Zoe; one brother, P.J. (Judy) Marsh; her mother, Emma Ruth Keyser; four brothers-in-law, Lowell (Joyce) Volmer, Gary (Sharon) Volmer, Larry (Shirley) Volmer and Lee (Mary Ann) Volmer; one sister-in-law, Gayle Byrd; her mother-in-law, Katheryn Volmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cletus Marsh; and her father-in-law, Louis Volmer.

Memorial contributions may be mailed to Kirkendall Public Library in memory of Lorna Volmer or left at Ankeny Funeral Home and Crematory.
