THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 8, 2005.
Marjorie Ann Taylor, 76, of Roland died Saturday, Nov. 5, at Bethany Manor in Story City of complications from lung cancer and respiratory failure. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7 at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
Marge was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Ames to Lora and Bertha (Mosness) Inman. She grew up in Ames and graduated from Ames High School. She married Max Amos of Des Moines and had three children. In March 1973, she married James Taylor and lived in the Nevada area, Ames and then the past 16 years in Roland.
She enjoyed working as a bookkeeper for many years. Later in life, she found her favorite job being the church secretary for Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoyed being active with her church circle. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, stopping at garage sales, shopping, writing lists, listening to books on tape, attending church functions and cheering for the Chicago "Cubbies" and the Roland-Story Norsemen. Through it all, she remained positive and upbeat and was an inspiration to many.
She is survived by her husband, James Taylor of Roland; two sons, Craig Amos of Des Moines and his children, Brad (Kristen) and Bryce (Sherry), and Robert Amos of Phoenix and his children, Joshua and Kelly; one daughter Ann Marie (Amos) Brodie and her husband, Boyd, of Roland, and their children, Kristin, Daniel, and Emily; stepchildren, Rosemary (Taylor) and husband Dick Allen of Nevada, Debbie (Taylor) and husband Jim Rexroat and children Katie and Brian of Hawaii, Diane (Taylor) Perry and children, Marc and Debbie of Des Moines, Jim and Sue Taylor and children Tina (Taylor) and Blair Lane of Finley, Ohio, and John Michael and Carrie of Fort Worth, Texas, for a total of 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also is survived by Max Amos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James; two brothers, Dell and Kenneth Inman; and three sisters, Helen Cole, Mildred Bennett and Thelma Gibson.
Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church.
