MRS. CHRIST HALVERSON
Mrs. Chris Halverson (nee Henrietta Erickson) was born at Stavanger, Norway, Feb. 7, 1874, and died at her home in Roland June 4, 1940, at the age of 66 years, 3 months, 27 days.
She came to America with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Erickson, in 1886, and they settled at Story City. On Oct.13, 1892 she was married to Christ Halverson, and they lived in Marshalltown until the following March, when they moved to Roland. They have continued to live in Roland since that time.
Not having any children of their own Mr. and Mrs. Halverson adopted a boy, Isadore Wolgeitz, 8 years old, in 1899, who was given the family names of Halverson. The deceased is survived by her husband and the adopted son and the family, which includes four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Mignon Nichols of Story City, and a brother, Herman Erickson of Ames.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon at Salem church, Roland, with Rev. O. Amdalsrud officiating in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Olaf Holen, The pall bearers were Jacob Erickson, J. V. Rasmussen, Garman, Oaf and Garvin Herigstad and J. O. Josendal. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.
Among the relatives from a distance in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Halverson, Helen, Dorothy and Max, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Davis and daughter of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Halverson, the Halverson Halverson and George Brue families, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Brue and Barney Halverson, all of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Erickson of Ames and Mrs. Mignon Nichols of Story City.
