Donald Everett Henderson

Donald Henderson, 85, of Story City, died of heart disease on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 at his home. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, rural Gilbert, with Father Ben Knopp officiating. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Donald Everett Henderson was born Feb. 10, 1916 in rural Story City to Eric and Josephine (Larson) Henderson. He married Marcella Cecelia Meimann on Jan. 31, 1942 in St. Anthony, Iowa. He was a farmer, a seed dealer for Middlekoop Seed Corn and worked many years at the ASCS farm program office. He was a lifetime resident of the Story City area and a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella Cecelia Henderson of rural Story City; two daughters, Jo Marie and husband Jim Shold of Anoka, Minnesota, and Mary Lynn Henderson of Honolulu, Hawaii; two sons, Merrill Henderson of Austin, Minnesota, and Mark and wife Kathy Henderson of Venice, Florida; one close cousin, Sarah Storby of Ames; and seven grandchildren, Erik, Krista and Andrew Shold, Sara Buschkamp and Sara, Morgan, and Patrick Donald Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin Henderson and Cecil Henderson.

Memorials may be given to the Mary Greeley Medical Center Homeward Hospice program.
