THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, November 5, 2005.

Laura C. Hinderaker died Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, where she suffered with many complications. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Relatives and friends are invited for lunch and fellowship in the Our Savior's Fellowship Hall following the service at the cemetery.

Laura Christina Hinderaker was the first of five children born to Nicolai and Marie Sorensen on Oct. 7, 1917, in rural Rutland.

She graduated from Livermore High School and Mercy Nursing School in Fort Dodge. Laura worked at the Children's Hospital during the polio epidemic.

Laura Sorensen became Mrs. Kenneth Hinderaker on Sept. 2, 1950. The following year, their daughter, Judy, was born.

Laura and Ken spent 51 years on their Radcliffe farm, tending the grain and raising registered Holsteins. Her main joy in life was maintaining a loving and supportive home for her husband and daughter. Working in the kitchen and garden or helping in the dairy barn, she felt right at home.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy, and her husband, Larry Stone of Story City; one granddaughter, Alisa Stone of Alexandria, Va.; one grandson, Matt Stone of Ames; two sisters, Helen Timmons of San Jose, Calif., and Betty Amosson of Humboldt; along with a host of relatives and beloved friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; her parents; and two brothers.
