From Story City Herald May 22, 1896 (page 5)
Mr. H. T. Henryson left he Sunday evening for California to accompany his wife hone. Mrs. Henryson, we are sorry to learn, is failing rather than gaining in health and the doctors did not think it would benefit her any to remain in that country. The Herald hopes that Mrs. Henryson may yet be able to check the disease that has fastened upon her and that she may live to enjoy many more years of life.*
The three-year-old boy of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Henryson died last night after an illness of several days' duration. On Sunday the father was here and the doctor assured him that his little boy was out of danger. But early in the week the symptoms took a change for the worse and after three days of great suffering death came. All that kind hands could do was done to relieve the little fellow, but in vain. The spark of life went out and the soul of the darling boy was wafted gently to the realms above, there to await the coming of others. The death is a particularly sad one as neither of the father nor the mother knew of the dangerous illness of their boy and the news of his death will be a great blow to them. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at one o'clock.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Mrs. Henryson, Julia {Cragwick} Henryson, unfortunately died on 30 July 1896.
