"LAST RITES FOR MRS. HOLLAND
FUNERAL WAS HELD AT BERGEN CHURCH THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services for Mrs. Ove Holland were held Thursday afternoon May 18, at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at 2:00 o'clock at Bergen Lutheran church with burial in the Roland cemetery. A group of her grandchildren sang two songs at the home, "In the Garden," and "God Will Take Care of You." Services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. M.O. Sumstad and the Ladies Chorus of Bergen Ladies Aid sang, "Under His Win," and "Some Day the Silver Chord Will Break," at the church.

Rev. Hans Oppedahl of Story City, a life long friend of the deceased, also spoke briefly at the church service. The pall bearers were the sons, Herman, Bailus, Overt and Berlin Holland, and the sons-in-law, Iver J. Norem and Porter Borwick.

Bell Johnson Holland was born April 11, 1872 to Ole and Martha Johnson near Stanhope in Hamilton county. She was united in marriage to Ove Holland on June 15, 1893. They set up housekeeping in 1894 on the Wolfsberg farm southeast of Story City. They also resided in Roland a few years, spent a year in Texas and farmed the Dr. Rice farm just north of Roland. In the year 1907 they purchased the farm five miles north of Roland where they resided until 1920 when they built their home in Roland.

Eight children were born to this union. One daughter, Nora, died in infancy in the year 1915. Surviving her are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Iver Norem and Mrs. Porter Borwick, of Roland, Mrs. J.A. Stevens of Vallejo, Cal., and four sons Herman and Berlin of Boone, Bailus of Red Oak, and Overt of Roland, one sister, Mrs. Jennie Britson of Roland, also twenty-two grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

The daughter, Mrs. Stevens of California was unable to start from her home immediately, on account of illness in the family, but arrived Saturday evening together with her husband and two sons, Jack and Ralph.

Mrs. Holland had been failing in health for the past two years but had not been bedridden except for a day now and then. Suffering from a heart ailment she peacefully slept away at 3:30 on Monday afternoon, May 15, at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 4 days. Her husband had just stepped out of the house and her daughter, Mrs. Norem, came in to find her breathing her last.

Madsen, Mrs. Lizzie Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fardall, Mr. and Mrs. Iver B. Iverson, Mrs. Ole Brekke, Mrs. Anna Fardall, Mrs. I.E. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Boyd, and Adelia Boyd, of Stanhope; Mr. and Mrs. John Hove, Mr. and Mrs. John Satre, and Mr. and Mrs. John Millang, of story City; Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Hanson of Ormsby, Minn.; Albert Holland of St. James, Minn.; Gordon Holland of Ogden, Minn.; Mrs. J. Bjorkman of Monterey, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Williams of Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Henderson and Misses Myrtle and Pearl Borwick, of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Selvig, Mr. and Mrs. R. Rasmussen, Mrs. C.E. Osboe and Sam Highland, of Radcliffe; Mrs. Bertha Christian, Mrs. C.S. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. S. Jergenson, Mrs. James Rose, Mrs. John Langland, Mrs. G.H. Krohn, Paul Langland, and Jordan B. Langland, of Des Moines; Paul Pl. Flogstad of Wauwtosa, Wis.; Mrs. Omer Anfinson of Nevada; E.F. Lentz of Perry, and Miss Correne Norem of Iowa City."
