MRS. E. DOOLITTLE DIED IN AMES
Funeral services for Mrs. Alwilda Doolittle, 78, who died at her home in Ames Wednesday of last week, were held at the Adams Funeral chapel in Ames Saturday afternoon at 2, with her pastor, Rev. Walter A. Morgan of the First Methodist Episcopal church in charge. The body was left in stat at the Adams chapel Friday afternoon from 2 to 5. Interment was in the Ames cemetery.
Heart trouble was the cause of death. Mrs. Doolittle had been ill for about four weeks.
She was born on a farm four miles north of Ames November 8, 1857, a daughter of Joshua V. and Elizabeth Green-Grove, pioneers of this part of the county.
She grew to womanhood in the community and was united in marriage to Elial Clemont Doolittle November 16, 1882. They lived on a farm northwest of Story City for ten years, moving into Ames in 1892.
She leaves a son, William Lee Doolittle of Story City and a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Heers of Atlantic. There are also the brothers, Willard Grove of Jewell, John Grove of Brownsville, Texas, Elmer of Imperial, Texas, and Charley of Gardenia, Calif. The one sister is Mrs. Eva Green of Blackwell, Okla.
