Burnice W. Jacobson, 88, of Story City died of cancer Wednesday at home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, of which he was a member. Burial with military rites, will be at Story City Cemetery.
Mr. Jacobson was born near Gilbert and had lived in the Story City area most of his life. He was a retired driver with Standard Oil and an Army veteran of World War II, during which he had received two Bronze Stars. He was a member of American legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Forty and Eight, Kohlnoor Masonic Lodge 576, Zag-Ga-Zig Shrine, Story County Shrine, Scottish Rite and Story County Shrine Cyclones. He had served as treasurer and councilman at his church.He is survived by his wife, Arlene; a son, Greg of Jewell; two sisters, Jenora Tressler of Forest Lake, Minn., and Irene Mabbitt of Fredericksburg, Va.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
