MRS. IDA SISSON DIED THURSDAY
Mrs. Ida Sisson passed away Thursday, May 17, from the effects of a stroke which she suffered the day before about noon. She was found lying on the floor, and never regained consciousness. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Gilbert Congregational church, with the pastor, Rev. J. P. Himmel, in charge, and he paid a loving tribute to the departed one. During the rites a quartet composed of Ralph Hillis, B. D. Kent, Clate Manges and Andre Dickinson sang several hymns. Miss Della Hamilton accompanied them.
The beautiful floral pieces sent in tribute to the deceased and in sympathy for the bereaved were in charge of Mrs. J. H. Reynolds and Mrs. B. D. Kent. The pall bearers were John Hansman, Robert Clark, J. H. Reynolds, Sam Askelson, H. R. Martin and Ross Dodds.
Ida Lusk was born Nov. 9, 1854, at McConnells, Ill., and passed away at her home in Gilbert May 17, 1934, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 8 days.
She was united in marriage to Elias Gilbert Oct. 11, 1882. In 1903 this union was broken by the death of Mr. Gilbert. May 16, 1905, she was married to Redmond T. Sisson and resided in Ames until his death April 13, 1914. With the exception of these few years she has resided in Gilbert. She was a charter member of the Gilbert Congregational church and was always an active and willing helper in the church work.
She was the last survivor of a family of eleven. Never having had any children and was a great favorite with the young people, always interested in their activities. Little folks loved her cheery ways and happy smile. We feel sure everyone who knew "Aunt Ida" will miss her greatly and remember her always as a real friend and neighbor.
Her closest relatives are a number of nieces and nephews who mourn sincerely the departure of this loving and devoted aunt.
Those from a distance her for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Orlan Gilbert and Violet of Kamrar, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Frisbie of Waterloo, Mrs. Nellie Maxon of Jewell, and a large number from Ames.
