Torris Olson Laid to Rest

Well known Citizen Died Friday Evening and Funeral Was Held Monday

Funeral services for Torres T. Olson were held Monday afternoon in the St. Petri church, of which he had been a member for 49 years. His pastor, Rev. Scarvie, officiated and the singing was led by the choir. The pall bearers were: L. C. Kahrs, B. T. Holm, Jake Hougen, Osmund Vangness, Henry Beroen and Ole Thorsbakken.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Mrs. Mattie Anderson, a sister, of Chicago; Mrs. A. B. Aschim and Mrs. Hougen of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Annas Erickson, Palmer and Lenora Erickson and Oscar Ostrem, of Jewell; Mrs. R. Reintertson and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Reinertson of Huxley; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Sheldahl and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Johnson of Cambridge. His son Arnold was unable to come from his home in New York City.

Obituary

Torres T. Olson was born in Skaanevik, Norway, Nov. 4, 1860, and died at his home in Story City June 8, 1934, being thus seven months past 73 years of age. He had been ailing for seven years and had been bedfast for ten days previous to his death, which was brought on by a disease of the kidney.

His parents were Ole Torrison and Guri Aasheim. When he was of age he immigrated to America, coming to Story city in the year 1881. On Sept. 17, 1885, he was married to Anna Porter, who with three children survives him. One son, Gerhard, died in 1918. The surviving children are: Mrs. Ed Benson of Randall, Mrs. Henry Skeie of Story City and Arnold of New York City. He is also survived by a brother, R. T. Olson of Cromwell, Okla., and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Anderson of Chicago, besides five grandsons.

Seventeen years ago he and his family moved into town, after farming for 31 years, and during the last seven years, as stated above, he suffered a breakdown in his health.
