LARS E. RAFDAL DIED AT THOMPSON MAY 12
Lars E. Rafdal, an old time resident of Story City, died at the home of his son, Erick at Thompson May 12 and was buried in the cemetery in Story City Sunday, May 15. He was 71 years old.
Lars E. Rafdal was born in Skaanevik, Norway, April 27, 1861, came to America in 1884 and settled in Morris, Ill.
In the year 1887 he was married to Ellen Christina Okland. To this union 10 children were born: Erik, Christ, Henry, Julia, Lars, Laura, Regina, Isabel, Jane and Enger.
He came to Iowa in 1894 and settled in Story City where he resided until the death of his wife in 1920, after which time he moved to Thompson, where he lived until his death.
He leaves to mourn his death, nine children, Erik and Christ Rafdal, Mrs. Ole Thorsheim, Mrs. C. Jacobson, all of Thompson; Mrs. Emil Jacobson, Woden; Mrs. J. H. Jerde, Clarion; Mrs. H. Tovey, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Frank Locke, Bemidji, Minn.; Lars L. Rafdal, Forest City; one brother, T. E. Rafdal, Story City; one sister, Mrs. L. Orthun, Rochester, Minn. His son, Henry preceded him in death in 1928.
Funeral service was held at the home of his son Erik of Thompson, May 15. Rev. P. Ylvisaker officiating. The body was then taken to Story City were G. O. Paulsrud held a short sermon at Bethel church and was then buried at Story City cemetery.
