OBITUARY

BRYNER K. LUND

Bryner K. Lund, son of Knute and Ingeborg Lund, was born in Voss, Norway, January 16, 1862, and died at his home in Story City on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 19, 1931, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 3 days. He had been in very poor health for a whole year, suffering from diabetes and heart trouble, but was unusually patient thru it all.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Mrs. Alice Lund; two sons, Lawrence and Arthur of London, Minn.; two daughters, Mabel Lund, Story City, and Mrs. Ida Isakson, Chicago; and a foster daughter, Miss Alice Mathre of Minneapolis; and five grand children. He is also survived by two brothers, John K. Lund of Story City and Severt K. Lund of Chicago, and three sisters, Mrs. Isabelle J. Anderson of Story City, Mrs. Martha Hynning and Mrs. Tena Olson of Chicago.

Mr. Lund came to America with his parents at the age of four years, in the year 1866. He grew to manhood at Lisbon, Ill., and was confirmed at the Lutheran church at that place. At the age of 21 he went to Northwood to engage in farming. In 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Mathre of Newark, Ill. To this union four children were born, all of whom are living at the present time.

In 1892 he and his family moved from Northwood to Stanhope, where they located on a farm on which they made their home for 27 years, moving to Story City in 1919 where they have resided until the present time. He and his family became members of the Immanuel Lutheran church at Story City, and within the walls of the church, Mr. Lund has spent many blessed moments in fellowship with his Lord.

He has been a kind and loving Christian for many years, and his children cannot remember of a time when he has not conducted a family altar of worship to the Lord daily with the members of his family.

A large number of friends and relatives from a distance came to attend his funeral services which were held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the home at 2 p.m. from the Immanuel church. The scripture lesson on which Rev. T. T. Heimarck preached was taken from Luke 2:25-35, which is the story of old Simeon, to whom it had been revealed that he should not see death until he had seen the Lord's Christ. And after he had found Him his prayer was, 'Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace, according to Thy Word: for mine eyes have seen Thy salvation." After Rev. Heimarck's message of comfort and encouragement he read the obituary of Mr. Lund, and also read greetings of sympathy from the Ebenezer Home, Buffalo, Minn., and from Rev. L. A. Mathre, Estherville, Iowa. Rev. Mathre also sent $2.00 to be given to Home Missions in memory of Mr. Lund, and the neighbors of the Lund family gave $11.50 to Missions in memory of the deceased.

Words of sympathy and comfort were also spoken by Rev. Hans Oppedal of Stanhope, who has been a lifelong friend and neighbor of the Lunds. Vocal music was furnished by the Clear Lake Octet who sang two beautiful songs, "Asleep in Jesus," and "Den Store Hvide Flok." The audience sang, "Heaven is My Home."

The following friends of the departed one were pall bearers John Satre, E. O. Dyvig, Martin Swenson, John Hove, Geo. Tokheim and John Lee. Interment took place at Fairview cemetery, Story City.

Mr. Lund will be deeply missed by his family and a host of relatives and friends.
