MRS. CHRISTINE CLAUSEN DIED LAST SATURDAY
Mrs. Christine Clausen died last Saturday at her home in the south part of town, lacking a little of four score years. She had been in failing health for some time.
Funeral services were held on Monday, first at the home and then in the St. Petri church. Rev. Sumstad of Roland officiated in the absence of the pastor. The pallbearers were Halvor Knutson, Chris Knoke, J. C. Johnson, Martin Jensen, John Heggen and C. J. Smith.
Mrs. Clausen was born in Nestvik, Shelland, Denmark, March 2, 1853, and died in Story City August 1, 1931, bring thus 79 years and 5 months old. Being baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, she came to this country when she was 16 years old, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jens Hansen.
In 1869, when she was 17 years old, she was united in marriage to Andrew Clausen, who preceded her in death June 18, 1892. To this union eight children were born, four of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. C. D. Knott of Ft. Dodge, H. P. Clausen of Blairsburg, and John and Katie of this place. There are also 3 grand children and 7 great grand children.
Mrs. Clausen had made her home in Story City many years. Always she was the same quiet and genial person to meet and associate with, and she will be greatly missed, not only by her kin but by her neighbors as well.
