MRS. RASMUS THORSON FUNERAL HELD MONDAY
Mrs. Rasmus Thorson died at home in the east part of town last Thursday evening. She had been in failing health, due to old age for some time and since last fall has been confined to her bed. She was nearly eighty-four years old and had lived in Story City 36 years.
Funeral services were held on Monday at the home and in Immanuel church, Rev. Heimarck officiating.
Obituary
Mrs. Rasmus Thorson (nee Guri Peterson Shold) was born in Etne, Norway, March 16, 1846, and died in Story City Feb. 6, 1930, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 21 days. In 1879 she was united in marriage to Rasmus Thorson. Two years later they immigrated to America, settling near Lisbon, Ill. in 1894 they moved to Story City.
Mrs. Thorson became the mother of five children, who all survive her. They are: Mrs. T. K. Henderson, Mrs. Lizzie Jacobson and Gerhard Thorson of Story City; Nels Thorson of Butterfield, Minn. and Peter Thorson of St. Paul, Minn. Besides these children, who today mourn the loss of their mother, she also leaves 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Thorson died April 5, 1919.
Mrs. Thorson was a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran church She was one of the 14 ladies who founded the Immanuel ladies aid 32 years ago.
The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the T. K. Henderson home at 1:30, and at 2 o'clock at the Immanuel church, conducted by Rev. T. T. Heimarck. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
