in 1879 they purchased a farm near McCallsburg, where they prospered and lived happily for many years. Nine children came to bless their union, two of whom died in infancy.

In 1916 they and their youngest daughter Martina moved to Story City, where the beloved wife and mother passed away at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 9 days, March 24, 1921.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Martin and seven children: Mrs. Emma Olsen of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Ellen G. Hanson of Montevideo, Minn.; Mrs. Andrea L. Johnson of McCallsburg; Esther L. Scoville of McCallsburg, and Miss Martina Erickson, who lived with her parents. Also Christine Jensen, a niece of Mr. Erickson, who has made her home with them in Story City.

She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 3 brothers, Halvor Thompson of Eagle Grove and one sister, Mrs. Anne Dosland of Perley, Minn., and also a host of friends.

She was beloved by all who knew her. Her kindness and generosity were unbounded. She died peacefully with perfect trust and faith in God.

Funeral services were held in the home and at the St. Petri church Monday afternoon, Rev. Andersen, the pastor, officiating. The Sermon was based on the latter portion of the 4th chapter of Paul's first epistle to the Thessalonians, wherein the Christians are comforted by the statement that their dead have but fallen asleep and due time will be awakened "to be forever with the Lord." In his closing remarks Rev. Andersen bore testimony to the quiet faith of the deceased which manifested itself in love for God's word and house, and in self-sacrificing devotion to husband and children.
