Obituary

Ernest L. Chance, son of Mrs. Lucy Swanson, was born in Redfield, Dallas county, Iowa, August 9, 1882 and departed this life July 30, 1919, in Wayne, Nebraska, of heart failure at the age of 36 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was united in marriage to Bessie Wright of Gilbert in Sioux City, Iowa, December 14, 1911. To this union was born four daughters and one son.

Ernest was a young man highly respected and had many friends in Gilbert and Sioux City, where he lived the past eight years.

About two months ago he moved to Concord, Neb. For the past two years he has been in the employ of the Gasoline Co., and at Concord, Neb., he has been in charge of the Oil Co. there. He had only lived in Concord but a short time, and has made many friends there.

Ernest was a devoted husband and father and loved his family dearly. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and four daughters and one son, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. N. Swanson, two brothers and two sisters, Orville and Hobart Swanson, Mrs. Ward Dinsmore and Mrs. Chas. Pifer. One sister preceded him into the beyond some years ago.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Congregational church, Rev. Wissler officiating. Interment in the Gilbert cemetery.
