OBITUARY
Gudmund A. Kalseim was born at Nerstrand, Norway, on the 19th day of April, 1860. He emigrated to America in 1878 and made his home in LaSalle, county, Ill.
In 1886 he was united in marriage to Anna Williams of Norway, Ill. They then moved to Iowa and settled down west of Story City where they have lived ever since.
He was a man of religious interests having joined the church many years ago and became one of the leading member of the Clear Lake and Ellsworth congregation.
July 30, 1917, he was taken sick and his health has been failing until his death. July 30, 1919, at the age of 59 years, 3 months and 11 days.
He leaves to mourn his death besides his wife, nine children: Arthur of Jewell, Robert and family of Forest City, Gertrude, Anna, Effie, Cornet, Gayly, Vivian and Mayme, all of Story City; two brothers, John of Norway and Andrew of Sidney, Australia; two sisters, Mrs. J. S. Jacobson and Mrs. J. B. Thompson of Jewell.
The funeral services were held in the St. Petri church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Norstad of Jewell officiating. Among the out-of-town people who paid their last respects to their departed relative and friend were the following; Dr. N. O. Williams of Veneto, Okla.; Fred Johnson of Sheridan, Ill.; Mrs. John Williams and daughter of Indianola; Chris Williams and family of Boone; Mrs. Mossman and daughter Helen of Indianola; O. Sweedland and family of Stratford; Sara and Minnie Williams of Stratford; J. B. Thompson and family of Jewell; Mrs. J. S. Jacobson and family of Jewll, and J. B. and O. Kalseim of Husley.
