OBITUARY

Hubert E. Allen

Hubert E. Allen was born in the year 1894 at Munterville, Ia., being 25 years, 1 month, 25 days old at the time of his death, which occurred Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1919. He is survived by his father and mother, four sisters, two brothers and one daughter, namely as follows: Sisters: Mrs. Gertrude Owens, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Juanita Wonderly, Keokuk, Ia.; Muriel and Marjorie Allen of Milwaukee. Brothers: Ivan, overseas; Paul, Milwaukee; and little daughter, Dorothy Marjorie Allen who now lives with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Boyd of this city.

Hubert E. Allen and Margaret E. Boyd were united in marriage April 16, 1917, and to this union was born the one daughter, Dorothy Marjorie. They made their home in Story City where Mr. Allen worked at his trade of carpenter. Suddenly, as it seemed to those who knew him and loved him he was stricken with that dread disease, tuberculosis. Altho prompt measures were taken to suppress this disease, it was of no avail. He was at the state sanitarium at Oakdale for some months, where he appeared to rally, but when his beloved wife was taken sick and died, the blow was more than one in his condition could bear and he soon went to join her in the better land, where all tears are wiped away and death shall be swallowed up in victory.

The remains were brought to Story City and laid beside those of Mrs. Allen.
