From Story City Herald April 20, 1922 (page 1)

MRS. JOHN L. ANDERSON

Florence Estella, daughter of Albert and Marie Sowers, was born near Randall, Hamilton county, Iowa, August 1, 1896, where she grew to womanhood.

June 15, 1917, she was married to John L. Anderson, Rev. C. D. Wendel officiating. This union was blessed with two sons. She died April 10th, 1922, age 25 years, 8 months and 9 days.

Those that are mourning the loss of a wife, mother, daughter, sister are her husband, two sons (Arnold aged 3 years, Vernon aged 20 months), her father, mother, one sister, Grace, and four brothers, Alvin J., Earl L., Wilbur A. and Clarence P. Sowers, all of Story City; also a host of friends.

She was a woman of fine Christian character, a mother in the true sense of the word; one who loved her husband, her children, her home. She was always kind to her neighbors, loyal to her friends; yes, she was kind to everybody. While we feel deeply our loss, we also realize that our loss is her eternal gain, for she has been transplanted by her heavenly Father, to her beautiful home above, not made with hands eternal in the heavens.

God in His love and mercy doeth all things well.

Funeral services were held in the Grace church, Rev. Smith and Rev. Wendel officiating. A large concourse of people attended the service, bearing eloquent testimony to the love and esteem in which the deceased was held and the deep sympathy for her family which her untimely death had stirred.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were as follows: Mrs. Ole Johnson, John Johnson, Geo. Johnson and Harvey Johnson of Algona; Mrs. W. j. Hager of Burdette; Louis H. Anderson of Carroll; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stewart of Luverne; Mrs. John W. Scott and James Johnson of Jefferson; Miss Bessie Chappell of Des Moines; James Sowers and Mrs. Homer Boyes of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Sowers of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sowers and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Gilmore of Gilbert.
