OBITUARY
Mrs. Martha Holland was born in Saude, Ryfylke, Norway, April 4, 1845 and died at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry K. Henderson near Story City, Friday, July 17, 1925, at 10:00 o'clock in the forenoon, being 80 years, 3 months and 13 days old at the time of her death. Her parents names were Ole and Madli Knudtson.
She came to America in 1871, settling with her parents near Story City. In the spring of 1874 she was united in marriage to Paul J. Holland. They lived on various farms in the vicinity of Roland and Story City for several years and settled on the Holland homestead, northwest of Roland, in the spring of 1884. Mr. Holland died in 1913, and Mrs. Holland lived on the homestead until 1919, when she moved to the home of her daughter.
Seven children were born to the union, one of whom died in infancy. Those living are John P. Holland, Leonard, N.D., Mrs. Austin Anfinson, Lake Crystal, Minn., Ole P. Holland, Dilke, Sask., Can., Martin O. Holland, McCallsburg, Carl J. Holland, Story City, Mrs. Harry Henderson, Story City.
Funeral services were held from St. Petri church at Story City Monday, Rev. J. N. Andersen officiating. Interment was made in the Story City cemetery.
