OBITUARY

MRS. MARTHA HEGGEN

Mrs. Martha Heggen was born in Olen, Norway, May 28, 1833, and entered into her eternal rest in Story City Thursday, Feb. 12, 1914, bring thus a little short of 81 years old.

She was united in marriage to Torkel O. Heggen in June, 1856, in Norway. To this union were born seven children, of whom six survive, namely, O. T. and L. T. Heggen of Renwick, Mrs. Jacob Taig of Rosendale, and Mrs. H. J. Hill, J. T. and Stina Heggen of this place. Beside these she left 38 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Two sisters live in Norway and one was present at the funeral; she has one brother also living in Norway.

Together with her husband and four children she came to America and settled in Story county in the fall of 1882. Two of the older children had preceded them to this country. They lived for a number of years near Huxley.

Her husband died soon after coming to Story City, about 15 years ago.

The funeral was held on Monday in the Bethel church, of which she had been a faithful member, Rev. Paulsrud officiating. The remains were interred in the Fairview cemetery, beside her husband. Peace be with her dust and blessed be her memory.
