OBITUARY
Mrs. Niels Jensen
Mrs. Niels Jensen was born in Hvisel, Denmark, August 19, 1838. She was baptized and confirmed in the Hvisel Lutheran Church and in which faith she continued till the end.
She was married to Niels Jensen on the 2nd day of May, 1863, and to this union were born five children, John N., Mrs. Anna Matheason, Martin N., Charlie C. and Julius N., all of near Story City. She is survived by fifteen grand-children and 8 great-grand-children.
Mrs. Niels Jensen with her husband and two oldest children left their home in Denmark and came directly to Story City in 1870 and located south of Story City, where they continued to reside for about five years, moving from there to the old homestead near the Center School of Lafayette Township. They were numbered among out most respected pioneers, and their hospitality from their arrival and until the time of her decease was a matter of common knowledge in this community and will continue a pleasant memory to many who shared therein.
She was of a home-loving disposition, devoted to her family, ever ready to lent a helping hand to the needy and her friends were limited only by her acquaintance.
For a number of year she was in failing health but patiently continued her household duties until about a month ago since when she was no longer able and felt the end was near and on July 23, at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 4 days she passed from this earth and its cares to the sweet rest awaiting her on the other side.
