ARNESON FUNERAL SERVICES TODAY

Severt Arneson Passes Away After a Lingering Illness Suffering from Cancer of the Troat. Funeral Today.

Severt Arneson was born in Skaanevik, Norway, February 8, 1855, and passed away at his home on the farm four miles south of Roland on Monday morning at 12:30 o'clock, July 23, 1923, thereby being at the time of his death 68 years, 5 months and 15 days old.

Mr. Arneson came to this country at the age of thirty years, coming to Lisbon, Ill., where he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Hall on May 27, 1891. They lived on a farm in the vicinity of Lisbon until 1909 when they moved to Iowa on a farm seven miles northwest of Nevada where they lived until four years ago. They then moved to town and just last spring moved onto the farm again.

He has been afflicted with cancer of the voice box for abut a year and four weeks ago last Friday, with his brother Andrew, he went to Rochester to the Mayo Clinic, where he took treatments to get relief, but to no avail. He returned home a couple weeks ago and has steadily become worse until near the end he was suffering beyond expression and no one had any idea he was in such agony.

On Sunday, June 17 last, another misfortune came to this bereaved family, when their home was totally destroyed by fire, and many of their household goods, but through it all they have been patient and enduring and have trusted in a power higher than any on earth.

Mr. Arneson leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife, eight children, Jonas, Sigrid, Hiram, Porter, Mrs. Hiram Twedt and Effie all of this place, Bert of McCallsburg and Mrs. Raymond Thorson of Sheridan, Ill. Also one brother, Andrew Arneson of this place, and three sisters in Norway, Mrs. Bertha Bringedahl, Gusta Arenson and Celia Arenson, besides a host other relatives and friends.

Funeral is being conducted this (Thursday) afternoon from Salem Lutheran Church, of which body of the deceased has been a faithful member, Rev. J. N. Sandven, his pastor, conducting services.
