OLD ENGINEER DIED MONDAY

Orlando McConnell Passed Away at Home of His Daughter Mrs. C. E. Knoke

Orlando McConnell died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Knoke, after a long illness. He had suffered from heart trouble for nearly ten years and the last few weeks this had become acute, leading tohis death at the advanced age of 80 years and six months.

Funeral services were held yesterday forenoon at 10:30 at the home and at 11 in Grace church, of which Mr. McConnell was a member, Rev. Fuller officiating. Interment was made in the Glendale cemetery in Des Moines.

The pallbearers were F. A. Fuller, Serral Munsen, John S. Johnson, D. B. Olson, John Heggen and Clarence Smith.

The pastor took for his text the words of Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus, "I am the resurrection and the life." Singing was by a ladies quartet and a solo by Mrs. Stanton James.

Mr. and Mrs. McConnell have lived here a dozen years or so. During that time Mr. McConnell took a great interest in his garden and his place of the south side was a veritable beauty spot every summer. He will be missed not only by his immediate family, but by his neighbors as well who have become used to his quiet and unassuming ways.
