WELL KNOWN MAN DIED SATURDAY

A. O. Severeid Went to His Reward at Ripe Old Age

Amond O. Severeid died at his home here last Saturday after a long illness. For several year he had been in declining health and ever since the holidays had had the unremittent care of the loving hands of his immediate family.

Mr. Severeid was born in Skaavevik, Norway, in 1850, being thus at the time of his death seventy-eight years old. He was married in 1879 to Herborg Gravdal, to which union eight children were born, two of whom died in infancy. He came to this country in 1893, making his home in Story City, plying his trade of blacksmith for many years.

In 1912 his wife died, and the following year he was united in marriage to Anna Larson of Lismore, Minn., who with the six children survives him. The surviving children are: Mrs. O. L. Alsager of Story City, George of Ames, Mrs. Inga White and Helen of Des Moines, Hans of Newell, Pa., and Mrs. W. F. Hastings of Elkader, Iowa. All but Hans were present at the funeral.

Funeral services were held in the Immanuel church Tuesday, his long time pastor officiating. Interment was made in the Fairview cemetery. The following acted as pall bearers: Ole Thorsbakken, E. P. Anderson, Henry Toft, Bert Hill, Chas Alsaver and Sam Grotness.

Mr. Severeid was for many years a prominent member of the Immanuel congregation and was also president of the Zion society, and his unfeigned devoutness and congenial presence will be missed in the circles of the church and society.
