Obituary

MRS. ERICK BOYD

Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Minnie Boyd in the Larson Funeral home and Bethel Lutheran church with Rev. T. J. Alvestad officiating.

Mrs. Luther Matson sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were Everett Anderson, Torkel Hill, Burton Gandrup, Charles Fuller, Lewis Matson and Henry Matson. Burial was at the local cemetery.

The following obituary was read at the services:
Mrs. Minnie Katherine Boyd was born in Denmark, Jan. 23rd, 1872. She was brought to this country at the age of nine years and had lived in this vicinity for 71 years.

Twelve years ago she had a fall which resulted in a broken hip from which she never fully recovered, having never walked since. The last 7 yeas she has been confined to her bed and lovingly cared for by her daughter, Pearl Nelson, during the summer months and her granddaughter Mrs. Dorothy Hendrickson, during the cold months of the year. Mrs. Hendrickson was to her more of a daughter as she had made her home with Mrs. Boyd from the time she was a small child and she was the only mother Mrs. Hendrickson had ever known.

The departed was married to Erik Boyd in the year of 1890 and to this union six children were born, four of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Boyd passed away May 5, 1937. One son, Murvin, of Albert Lea, Minn., and a daughter Mrs. Pearl Nelson survive her.

Mrs. Boyd had been a member of the Randall parish for over a half century and a member of the Bethel church for the last 35 years. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pearl Nelson, Aug. 11, 1953.

Left to mourn her departure besides her children are the granddaughter, Dorothy Hendrickson, of Albert Lea, Minn., sever other grandchildren and great grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.
