Lars Holmes

Lars Holmes was born in Wikebygd, near Haugesund, Norway May 7, 1844, and died in Gilbert, Iowa, Jan. 9, 1928. He reached the ripe age of 83 years, and eight months.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway and lived most of his life as a farmer there, but retiring from the farm about 15 years ago he and his wife came over here to be near their children, and have made their home with their son, Gunder in Gilbert.

At the age of 29 he was united in marriage to Anna Mykevold. To this union was born four children who now, together with their mother, mourn the loss of a loving father and husband. The children are: Las, Gunder, John and Mrs. Henry Jondall of San Diego, Calif.

Mr. Holmes was conscious to the very last and freely confessed his faith in his Saviour whom he expected soon to give him a place in the mansions above, which Christ went to prepare.
