OBITUARY

Mrs. Knute Tolbertson

Mrs. Knute Tolbertson, whose maiden name was Ellen Williamson, was born in Kvinherred, Norway, April 14, 1832, and died at her home in Story City, Feb. 1, at the age of almost 84 years.

She was married to Knute Tolbertson April 9, 1862, and immigrated to this country with her husband. They settled first in Clinton county, Iowa, where they lived seven years. Then they moved to Benton county, where they lived two years, when they moved to Story county. They lived for 24 years on a farm near Gilbert, moving from there to Story City.

Ten children were born to her, of whom five preceded her to the better land. Her husband and the following 5 children survive her: Mrs. H. L. Valen and Wm. Tolbertson of this place; Mrs. Geo. Wigen of Ayrshire; Mrs. Lewis Wigen of Baldwin, Wis., and Tom Tolbertson, who lives in the state of Washington. Her brother, Mr. Knute Williamson, also survive her as do 27 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The funeral services were to have been held Sunday, but on account of the great blizzard it was postponed until Monday. Her pastor, Rev. Solum, officiated, and the interment was made in Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Tolbertson had been bedridden with inflammatory rheumatism for more than thirteen years. During all that time kindly hands ministered to her needs. She was a patient sufferer, but was glad to be released from the bonds that tied her wracked body to this world.
