OBITUARY

Andrew Thompson

Andrew Thompson was born at Sevde, Ryfylke, Norway, July 9, 1839 and died at his home in Story City Feb. 16, 1917 at the age of almost 77 years.

Mr. Thompson came to America in 1864 and settled at Lisbon, Ill. In 1886 he moved to Shelby county, in this state, where he bought land and made his home for sixteen years. After living for a year at Swea City and three years at Jewell, he moved to Story City in the fall of 1904, and he made this their home ever since.

He was married Nov. 2, 1868, to Marie Peterson Kleppe, at Lisbon, Ill., the ceremony being performed by Rev. P. Rasmussen. To this union 12 children were born, of whom 11 survive the father. The surviving children are: Gerhardt of Clarinda; Mrs. Sarah Larson and Andrew of Danvers, Minn.; Charles and Peter of Montevideo, Minn.; Mrs. Rachel Hanson of Halfa; Mrs. Tillie Carlon of Des Moines; Theodore of Roland; Mrs. Julia McBrayer of Farnhamville; Mrs. Emilie Brand of Ft. Dodge, and Marshall of Story City.

The deceased was a member of the Bethel church. By his good cheer and social disposition he made many friends and his demise is much regretted.

The funeral services were held in the Bethel church, Feb. 21, Rev. Paulsrud officiating.
