OBITUARY

Mrs. J. C. Jacobson

Mrs. Josephine Jacobson (nee Olson) was born at Bergen, Norway, August 16 1852.

In 1858 she emigrated to America with her parents. They settled first in Lisbon, Ill., but a few years later moved to a farm five miles south of Gardner, Ill. She was united in marriage J. C. Jacobson in 1872.

Four years after their marriage they moved to Story county, Iowa, where they settled on a farm one mile north of Gilbert. After residing there for twenty-nine years the family in 1905 moved to Story City.

For many years she was in poor health and for more than fifteen years she has been confined to her bed and suffered a great deal during these years, until death came and released her Oct. 31, 1922, from pain and suffering.

She had long prayed and longed for the summons to "come home" or "sleep the sleep from which none ever wake to weep."

Mrs. Jacobson was a real christian who had her trust in the lord and in spit of all pain suffering leaned on His mighty arm. It was a great sorrow and trial for her when her husband died last March, but her stay was not so long after that.

She is survived by seven children namely: Severt of Kanawha, Nels of Gilbert, Martha, Josie, Jacob, Ben and Susan of Story City; seven grand children, one sister of Kankakee, Ill. Three children have preceded the mover to the "Father's house with many mansions."

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 3, 1:45 p.m. from the home and 2 p.m. from the St. Petri church of which the departed was a member for many years, Rev. J. N. Andersen officating.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Burial was made in the family lot of the South St. Petri cemetery.

"One by one their seats were emptied,
One by one they went away;
Now the family is parted,
Will it be complete some day?
Will the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye, bye and bye?
Is the better land awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?
--J. M. O.
