MRS. PERRY BRACKEN

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Archer Methodist church for Mrs. Elizabeth Yarrington Bracken. Mrs. Bracken was born Nov. 21, 1848, in Logan county, Ohio, and passed away May 4, at 10:45 p.m., at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 4 days. In 1853 she came with her parents and 40 other families by covered wagon to Jones county, Iowa. She was married to Perry Bracken, Feb. 25, 1867, and lived on a farm near Story City until March, 1891, then moved to O'Brien county, Iowa. Her husband passed away Feb. 28, 1906.

The four daughters left to mourn her loss are: Lettie Gable, Hartley; Mrs. Mae Voorhees, Archer; Mrs. Rose Shriner, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Gertrude Mansfield, Los Angeles. She has 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She had been a Christian for many years and enjoyed reading her Bible. She had expressed her wish many times to go to meet her Lord. Mrs. Bracken had been in fairly good health until the past year, during her entire life. She attended divine service whenever she could. She was a sympathetic and kind person, and many a burden has been made lighter and many a one made happier thru her influence. Her pleasant words and good acts will be cherished as priceless gems upon which we love to dwell. "Be ye ready for in such an hour as he think not, the son of man cometh."

Mrs. Bracken used to make trips to Story City to visit her old time friends and renew acquaintance with the newer ones and she was always a welcome visitor here, as she had the knack of making friends by her pleasing personality and her general interest in folks and things.
