MRS. D. S. OLSON
Anna Bertha Olson was born at Isfjorden, Romsdalen, Norway, Jan. 20, 1869. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway.
At the age of 19 years she came to America, settling at Odebolt, Ia. On April 21, 1891, she was married to Daniel S. Olson of Jewell, where she resided until 1900 when she moved to Story City. She lived at Story City, until 1923, when they moved to Inglewood, California.
At Story City, she was a faithful member of the Bethel church and in California was a member of the First Lutheran church of Inglewood. She was also an honorary member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid.
She passed away at her home, Thursday, May 9, 1940.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, 1940, from the First Lutheran church, Rev. K. Koosman officiating and interment was at beautiful Inglewood Park cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel S. Olson; 3 cons, Arthur D. and Mervelle D. of Inglewood and Edgar O. of Los Angeles; 2 daughters, Mrs. Arthur Hovland of Inglewood, Cal., and Mrs. Lester Doolittle of Story City; also 9 grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother besides a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were largely attended. Active pallbearers were Peter L. Soren, Arthur Ruud, Carl Olson, Leonard Nordskog, M. P. Grundheim and F. F. Hageman.
Honorary pallbearers were P. C. Christensen, E. E. Lee, Frank Peterson, Ed. Retland, Rober Clark, and George Clark. Mrs. Yetta Barber sang "Dew Store Hvide Flok," and Geraldine Barber sang "Mother," a composition by Mrs. Barber. Floral offerings were numerous and beautiful and money was sent to the Lutheran Student Fund of California in her memory.
She will be greatly missed in her home and church. May she rest in peace.
