MIKE HEGLAND DIED IN ROLAND MONDAY EVENING

Michael Hegland, aged 97, Roland's oldest resident, died Monday evening at 6:30 in the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. O. Anderson, in Roland. Death resulted from old age and complications. He had been ill several weeks.

Born at Etne, Norway, Jan. 13, 1845, the son of the late Ole T. and Britta Hegland, he went with his parents to Quebec, Canada, at the age of 12. The Hegland family then came to Roland and purchased a farm on the edge of town.

Hegland married Alice Caroline Larson at Story City on Aug. 20, 1870. He lived on the same farm until 1903, when he built a home in Roland. In 1920 he built the house where the Shold family now lives and where he lived until 1927 when his wife died. Since then he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Anderson.
