Ben Lee Rites Held Monday

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Ben Lee, 60, having died at his home here Friday, May 15, after a protracted and painful sickness.

Rev. G. L. Bergeman officiated at the home and in the Grace church. In the latter place a large number of old time friends, besides relatives, were gathered to pay their last tribute of love and respect for the deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Sowers sang two selections from the hymnal, with Vernon Anderson at the organ. The casket bearers were: L. W. Valline, Guy Heers, Burnice Tressler, Herbert Whaley, Ed W. Heuer and Robt. Kalseim. Interment was made in the Center cemetery.

At the beginning of the funeral service Rev. Bergeman read the following obituary:

OBITUARY

Benjamin Lee, son of Gunsel and Leva Lee, was born April 29, 1882, in Lafayette township, the youngest of eight children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Story City.

On December 27, 1911, he was married to Lila Johnson. To this union were born two daughters and one sons, namely, Mrs. Charles Fuller of Story City, Mrs. Max Wilcox of Augusta, Kansas, and Roger, now in the Army Air corps at Chanute Field, Illinois.

Ben spent his entire life in of near Story City, farming until 10 years ago, when the family moved to town. He had always been in good health until a year ago.

Besides his immediate family, he leaves two sisters and two brothers namely, Mrs. Tena Olson of Scenic, S. Dak., Mrs. G. A. Johnson of Chicago, Goodman Lee of Ayrshire, and John Lee of Story City.

Out of town people to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Max Wilcox of Augusta, Kansas; Private and Mrs. Roger C. Lee of Chanute Field, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Goodman Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Will Olson and Levi Lee of Ayrshire, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. P. Johnson and Mrs. Otto Larson of Winnebago, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Owen Wilcox and Mrs. Howard Donhowe of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. George Lee of Eldora; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Duntz and DeVere, and June Koonce of Des Moines.
