OBITUARY OF PETER O. ANDERSON

Peter O. Anderson (Wallem) was born at Odal, Norway, Jan. 2, 1845, and died at his home in Story City, Iowa, Feb. 15, 1926, at the age of 81 years, 1 month, 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Britta Rasmusson Hia in the year 1864, and immigrated to America in the same year, coming to Morris, Ill., in the month of May. The family lived in Morris for six years and then moved to Kansas, where Mr. Anderson took a homestead and remained for thirty years. He sold his Kansas farm in 1900 and moved to Roland, Iowa, living on a farm south of that place for seven years. In 1908 he sold that farm and moved to Story City, where he resided until his death.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were blessed with eleven children. Four of these preceded the father to better land, and 3 sons and 4 daughters remain with the mother to mourn his death. The surviving children are: Mrs. A. A. Jacobson of Butterfield, Minn., Andrew Anderson of Bricelyn, Minn., Mrs. Nels Kittelson of Milford, Ia., Ole Anderson of Story City; Mrs. Lewis Severtson of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Mrs. Annie Johnson of Bird City, Kan., and Rasmus Anderson of Clifton, Kan.

He has three sisters and one brother living, namely, Mrs. Maline Thompson of Story City, Mrs. Annie Thompson of Ellsworth and Mrs. Henry Salvig of Huron, S.D.

He leaves 7 children, 42 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 13 great great grand children.

The funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 18, in the Immanuel church, Rev. Heimarck officiating. A large number of relatives and friends gathered to pay their last loving respect to the departed. The pall bearers were: E. P. Anderson, A. S. Anderson, Hacktor Hill, Andrew Valen, L. C. Kahrs and Edwin Olson. The remains were lad to rest in the Fairview cemetery of Story City.

All the children were present at the funeral except the two who live in Kansas. Among the many others at the funeral were the following from a distance: Leonard Kittelson of Milford, Sanford Severtson of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Mr. A. Jacobson of Butterfield, Minn., Mrs. Andrew Anderson of Bricelyn, Minn., Mrs. Bertha Fitch of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Rasmusson of Marshalltown, Mrs. Sills of Ames, Rasmus Rasmusson of Roland.

The deceased had won the friendship of many people wherever he lived, being a man of sterling character, and he leaves a memory that should be a benediction to his many children and grandchildren.
