PIONEER STORY CITY WOMAN LAID TO REST

Mrs. Erick Larson Funeral was Held at Jasper, Minn., Saturday, Sept. 23

The funeral of Mrs. Erick Larson, whose death occurred in Minneapolis, Sept. 20, was held at Jasper (near Ihlen, Minn.) on Saturday, Sept. 23, in the Eden Lutheran church, following which her body was laid to rest beside that of her husband. The services were conducted by Rev. Edw. Hegland of Jasper, with the sermon being preached by Rev. Monson of Minneapolis. Two solos were sung by Mrs. Hegland of Jasper; and the acting pall bearers were four sons of the deceased: E. E. Larson, P. L. Larson, R. G. Larson and A. S. Larson; and two sons-in-law, Wier Duea of Minneapolis and A. H. Belland of Ihlen.

Obituary

Bertha Egland was born in Aardal, Norway, May 16, 1842. When fifteen years old she immigrated with her parents to America settling in Story county, Iowa. There she was married on Dec. 21st, 1861 to E. R. Larson, and lived here for 25 years. With her husband and family she moved to Ihlen in 1886, residing in that vicinity for 32 years. Mr. and Mrs. Larson celebrated their golden wedding in Ihle, Dec. 31st, 1911. His death occurred in October, 1915, and three years later Mrs. Larson and some of her children moved to Minneapolis, and had made their home there since.

Thirteen children were born to this union, six of whom preceded their parents in death. Besides the four sons and three daughters surviving, there are fifteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. The children are: E. El Larson of Minneapolis; R. G. Larson of Ihlen; P. L. Larson of LaCrosse, Wis., A. S. Larson of Story City, Mrs. Weir Duea, and the Misses Hannah and Bessie Larson of Minneapolis.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral on Saturday were: E. E. Larson of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Larson of LaCrosse, A. S. Larson of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Weir Duea and Esther, Hannah and Bessie Larson, Opal and Ellen Belland and William Holm, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. M. Duea of Marshall, John S. Johnson and Ed Peterson of Story City, Mrs. Esther Anderson of Sioux City, Mrs. Ella Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Larson, Mrs. Russell Schwartz, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Larson and Edna, and B. Toresdal, all of Pipestone.
