Obituaries

Grace Luglan Butler

Grace Luglan Butler died Nov. 10, 1982 at Bethany Manor, Story City, where she had lived the past six years.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. from the Grace United Methodist Church, Story City, Pastor Paul Beckman and Pastor Enoch Hall were in charge. Mrs. Dorrel Doolittle, organist, accompanied Mrs. LaVerne Severseike, soloist, as she sang, "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer."

Casket bearers were David Larson, Harold Carpenter, Leroy Meyers and Myron Rod. Burial was at the Radcliffe Cemetery.

She was born June 12, 1895 at Mt. Vernon, South Dakota, to Henry and Dorthea Luglan. As a young woman, Grace taught country school in the Radcliffe area. In 1917 she married Murl Butler. They resided in the Radcliffe area before moving to Story City in 1934, where they opened the Luglan International Harvester Co. Mrs. Butler continued to run the business for a number of years after her husband's death in 1937. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Grace Council Class.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Sarcone, Des Moines; two sons, Thomas, Des Moines, and Robert, Iowa City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orey Luglan, Kerrville, Texas and Arthur Luglan, Eldora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and two brothers.
